GRANTS PASS HIGH SCHOOL
Educational Assistant – Special Education
7.00 hours per day / 181 day contract
OVERVIEW: The position will also work with the High School Special Education Team to create the provision of Pre-Employment Transition services for students with disabilities. Transport, accompany and supervise students in off-campus employment or internship opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and one of the following three options:
- Two years of college study.
- An associate’s or higher degree.
- A passing score on the District reading, writing and math assessment.
- Also supplemented by college level work or special vocational training in Special Education principles and practices, behavior management, and/or procedures related to basic physical/medical needs and personal hygiene. Two years of responsible instructional assistance experience, preferably involving contact with students who have some form of learning or physical disability or special cultural, social/behavioral needs.
- Experiences working with students who have moderate to severe physical and behavioral disabilities preferred.
- Assists in the planning and implementing of learning experiences of students enrolled in program; confers with teacher.
- Duties involve working with students who may need feeding, toileting or changing of diapers and restraining, at times, due to aggressive behaviors.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with fellow employees and ability to get along well with students.
- Bilingual and bi-literate in Spanish preferred.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $15.75-$16.81 per hour grants pass high school
